What is Etsy and ESST?

February 19th, 2010 · 1 Comment

Etsy

has become the premier online sales site for hand made goods and supplies. Sellers create “shops” from which they launch their latest creations. You’ll find all kinds of hand made and one of a kind items. From hand bound books to gorgeous hand designed jewelry. And everything in between. Etsy sellers set the bar high with excellence in goods and beautifully photographed offerings. Very, very artistic.
Many of the artists on Etsy will custom make items just for you. This is unique in the online world. You have to be prepared to wait for the production time required, but the wait is well worth it. So what supports this fantastic group of artistic individuals?

Team ESST

All artists must have basic supplies in order to create. And ESST shops provide the grist for the creative process, by supplying unique items to inspire those creative artists to make their products. ESST stands for “Etsy Street Supply Team”. Art supplies are not the only thing found in ESST shops. You’ll find vintage buttons, charms, beads and paper memoribilia as well as hand made beads, mosaic tiles and fabrics.

My Rosesbuttons Etsy shop is a proud member of team ESST. I put my best vintage buttons, fabric and patterns in my Etsy shop. I find that about half of my customers are Etsy artists and the rest are hobby creators (who someday might become Etsy artists…we can all hope).

And just for reading all the way to the bottom of this post…you can expect an ESST sale February 26-28.  Just type “team ESST” in the search box on Etsy and see what wonderful finds will come up.
