I’ve discovered that pattern collecting guides are few and far between, so I thought I’d list the best ones that I’ve found so far:
- A Beginners Guide to Pattern Collecting by Jennifer Warris This is an online guide that hits the major points that a beginner should consider.
- Vintage Patterns Overview by Vintage Fashion Guild members Karen Gray and Elizabeth Bramlett. Another online resource with a quick rundown of the major pattern companies.
- A Century of American Sewing Patterns 1860 - 1959 Identification and Price Guide is an older classic guide. Prices are outdated.
- Blueprints of Fashion:Home Sewing Patterns of the 1940s by costume designer Wade Laboissonniere. This along with the volume on the 1950s are considered the most current guides.
